Module 1-OPC and other websites

Five key items the OPC does for its members:

 •   represent its membership
 •   promote the professional interests of its members
 •   support and protect its members
 •   advocate on behalf of public education
 •   provide professional growth opportunities for principals and vice-principals

Other Sites:
Ontario's Ministry of Education site has a wealth of resources for school administrators. Under the 'Secondary subheading on the left of the main page, administrators will find many links to various publications and other resources (online). The 'Leadership Development' section via 'Popular Topics' is especially useful.

The Institute of Education Leadership - The Institute for Education Leadership (IEL) is a virtual organization which is made up of representatives from Ontario's principals' and supervisory officers' associations, councils of directors of education, and the Ministry of Education. The institute is committed to exploring leading-edge thinking on education leadership and applying that expertise to develop high-quality resources and learning opportunities for school, board and system leaders.

Get a twitter handle, event if you know you will not tweet/don't believe in social media for education, etc. Follow some well known leaders in education and educational administration such as George and Alec Couros, perhaps leadership development officials in your respective school boards. Peel DSB has a fab Leadership Development Officer - Luciana Cardarelli - she tweets some great stuff for school leaders!
